Last Day in England

Today was my last full day in England. Paul and I took a charter to King Henry VIII's old castle. It dates back to the 15th century. Lots of history ... lots to take in.

Beautiful structures and manicured gardens. Amazing feats of architecture....and a look into the dark hearts of fallen men.

Paul posed with King Henry the VIII. He was a big ole fella. He didn't start out that way.....but unbridled power and passions will always lead to a destructive end in one's body, soul and relationships.

We ended our time together at the Black Lion in Brighton. Wendy joined us for this time. We had some great conservation over our farewell meal. Questions....about the ways of God and His mysterious paths....how do we discern when we're walking that path and are bringing a smile to the Father's face.

I've concluded that I have alot of questions....and not as many answers as I once did.

Wendy and Paul Young are two of the greatest servants of the Lord that I know. I'm honored to have them as close friends that bring joy to my heart. I believe that the country of England doesn't know the stature of these that walk it's southern coast.

Thank you Paul and Wendy.

Day Trip through the Countryside

Today, Paul and I went for a bus ride on a double-decker through the beautiful countryside of Sussex and Kent. The narrow roads we traveled in this huge bus was an adventure. Our front window seats on the top level of the bus was an exciting vantage point for our journey.

We spent the entire day walking through the streets of the ancient villages. We bought a few things. We browsed through old used book shops. We spent a few hours sitting on city benches and in a pub talking about the work of the Lord and how it all relates to our personal lives. We ventured into some deep, deep conversation. Sharing one's heart with a trusted friend can do wonders and Paul and I both enjoyed our time together.

As we began our hour long journey back to Brighton, the bus broke down. Another bus had to be dispatched and we found ourselves late for our promised Mexican meal with Shannon and Nancy. We were only about 30 minutes late and arrived at the restaurant at 7:30.

Shannon is my daughter, Anna Beth's, dear friend. They worked together for several years at Camp Wabanna. It was on one of Paul's trips with me to Wabanna that he was introduced to Shannon. After leaving the camp, Shannon applied to be one of the year workers with OFF THE FENCE.

Nancy is from Argentina and is also one of the year workers. Shannon and Nancy both live in the Safe House and are involved with the Women at Risk project, the Schools work and the outreach to the homeless with Operation Anti-Freeze. They are both godly young women who have a heart for ministry. It was a joy to buy them their first Mexican meal in England.

Full Day in England

We began our day with BH Pastor Phil Moon. He took Paul and I to the Shoreham Airport for breakfast. This was a beautiful airport that dates back to pre-WWII. We enjoyed a couple of hours discussing our testimonies and God's work in each of our lives. God is going to do great things at Bishop Hannington Church under the leadership or Phil Moon. http://bishophannington.blogspot.com/

We then traveled to the conference center called Pilgrim Hall. We enjoyed our tour of the facilities and our visit with the administrative staff.

Michael Lee has been the executive director for the past 10 years. His chef's provided Paul, Michael and I a beautifully prepared meal in one of their dining rooms. We then enjoyed further fellowship over coffee on the beautiful grounds. This splendid house was built in 1902 as the country residence of a Christian family. Since 1971, it has been skilfully extended to provide further accommodation and facilities for up to 120 guests. Pilgrim Hall is a member of the Evangelical Alliance and is registered as a Charitable Trust.

We were able to take an hour break before traveling to our next appointment. We were scheduled to meet with Ali, Michael, David and Lucy Payne's grandfather. He has been a Baptist pastor for over 50 years. What a blessing we had with this family and their godly family patriarch. His passion for the Lord and the Lords' work was keenly felt.

Rodney's Ramblings Creation

I've created Rodney's Ramblings Blog on this Tuesday morning, July 12, 2005 at 12:25 AM. I'm in the guest room of Merv and Allison Week's in Brighton, England.

Yesterday I preached three services at Bishop Hannington Church (http://bishophannington.blogspot.com/). It's always a joy to be with these wonderful people.

I'm enjoying my time in Britian with my good friend, Paul Young. We had a profitable strategy meeting today with OFF THE FENCE's two newest staff members.
